Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Certificate
The Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Certificate program is a competency-based program tailored to your needs. You progress through the program as you master the content. This program will teach you how to operate trucks that require a Class B CDL license, which include vehicles such as concrete mixer trucks, snow plows, delivery trucks, moving vans, garbage trucks, tow trucks, buses, and emergency vehicles. You will develop skills in backing, turning, and safe driving on both rural and suburban roads and become proficient in vehicle inspections. Your training will include individual and classroom instruction and hands-on driving using simulators and full-size dump trucks.

Admission Requirements
Prior to starting, you must pass and pay for a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and pre-employment drug screening. You must also obtain your Class B CDL permit with air brakes test from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV provides practice tests you may access online to prepare for your permit.
Course Information
Schedule: Classes meet Monday – Friday from 8:00am –5:00pm.
Location: Classroom, virtual driving training, and driving training will be held at Hawkeye's Regional Transportation Training Center.
