Community Volunteer Opportunities at the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center

Hawkeye Community College's Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Program at the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center offers a variety of programs to help adults achieve their education, work, and life goals.

Our Adult Education and Literacy programming includes English Language Learning (ELL), High School Completion (HSC), and Integrated Education and Training (IET), as well as other programs, classes, and services, funded primarily by the federal and state Department of Education.

We help individuals in our community to achieve proficiency in English, earn a high school equivalency diploma, and/or further develop the basic reading and math skills necessary for success.
